Never Good Enough

I've had some pretty challenging jobs, and worked with some pretty challenging people, but being a mother maybe one of the hardest and most challenging things I have ever had to be and do. Nothing challenges you more than raising a child. That is if you really give a damn. There are some days when I am bursting at the seams with love for this little being that was miraculously created by God, my husband and me. Then there are some days where I am on the verge of a break down, because this little being has... read more »

The Teachings Of A Toddler

As I mentioned in my last post,Don't Judge A Mother, I take my son to the park regularly. And other than picking up germs, I've been able to pick up a few life lesson there too. Turns out children aren't just noisy, messy, stinky, complicated, and tiresome little creatures. They areminiatureBuddhasin diapers. Language Doesn't Matter One of the most amazing things about early toddlers is thatin spite of their language, or lack there of,they can communicate with just a few grunts, whines, and gestures. ... read more »

The Call of Motherhood

What a blessing motherhood is. I always knew growing up, that it was the only thing I would ever really do. It wasn't that I didn't enjoy other things, oh no, I have had several aspirations and interests over the years, but nothing has "stuck" like mothering. I tell people all the time that I know how to do a lot of different things, just none of it completely well. Once I recognized the fact that maybe what was meant to fill my time 24/7, was motherhood, it was like the gates of opportunity opened to me... read more »

Lunch Date With Mom At Johnny Carinos

Pretty much every italian place now days has an unlimited soup and salad option. Thats usually what I opt for. Pasta doesnt always sit well with me and most other dishes have cheese all over them I got the Minestrone soup and the house salad with sundried tomato balsamic dressing. I forgot to ask for dressing on the side. They put WAY too much on. My mom has the artichoke and angel hair pasta dish with olives and capers. She really liked it.  I have to say I might still be favoring Olive Gardens Min... read more »

Consider it All Joy

It's been one year since I sat nervously waiting - they were late. I cleaned, re-cleaned, and organized some more to keep myself busy. I finally saw a car pull into the drive and my heart raced. She's here. Our social worker got out first and then lifted the most precious little girl out of the back seat and came to the front door. This beautiful girl came bounding in the door, put her backpack down, looked and me and said, "Hi mom," and at that moment I thought my heart would burst. She was amazing - so... read more »

Mothers Day-A Day of Thankful Remembrance

Mothers day Everybody has a list of things mom did, but I have a short list of things mom didn’t do, as well. My mom never took sass from any of us kids. The only issue she had with 4 kids was whether she could get the majority of us for what we did. (Pretty [] read more »

Making Change

April has been a very eventful month! I feel like I myself have accomplished so much. Not that by any means it's been just me because I've had some incredible people, causes and events that a lot of other people invested into just like me! I feel so blessed and have a renewed since of hope. I started my month off with attending Missing Persons Day which which was very promising and as always a great source of information. Then I attended Crime Victims day where my beautiful Katie Merrick shared her story... read more »

Best Advice I Can Give To New Moms

I remember the days back when my daughter was a baby very vividly (hasn't been that long, after all). There was a lot of fun to that stage; she was learning to new things left and right. But there was also a lot of stress. If you go to the bookstore and pick out a parenting book, they all seem to have guidelines about what your precious baby should or should not be doing, along with ages. Like at so-and-so months, your child should be rolling over, or sitting, or walking, or talking. I threw those books ... read more »

Cleaning out the shell

Its been three days of cleaning out the shell of my mothers home. Its an endless pit of old paperwork and things from the past. Finding A Life Care Facility For My Wife’s Mother

My wife worries about her mothers health – and for good reason. Her mother lives alone (a widower these past nine years), and she often has trouble with ambulation. The Evolution of the Easy Bake Oven

I remember as a girl wanting the coveted Easy Bake Oven for years. It wasnt until I was eight and after years of begging that I finally won out. I baked everyday. Okay, it was just because I made Read More[...] The post The Evolution of the Easy Bake Oven appeared first on . read more »

Mother's Day.... and some memories

It's been a lovely Mother's Day today. I awoke to Zakir making me a nice breakfast (very rare occurrence in our house!) and when the kids came down I was presented with some delightful gifts. A bag of milk chocolate truffles, which the kids assured me I didn't have to share with anyone, and a board game I had never played before. But after one game with the kids this morning, I know it's sure to become a favorite in our house! Bilal even caught on to the game surprisingly fast. You can see, everyone wa... read more »

Carmela, a Mother’s Day Remembrance

Her name was Carmela, a lyrical name meaning “garden or orchard.” Carmela with one “l” she’d always say. My mother really disliked having her name misspelled. Understandable, especially considering that her vibrancy as an individual was so often dismissed throughout her life, because when you suffer from mental illness, that one fact is often the primary thing, sometimes the only thing, people remember about you. And she was so much more than the madness inside her mind that she could not escape. My mot... read more »

5 Pretty awesome baby gifts!

So... I was reading another blog when I got this idea. I came up with 5 things that were great to have that broke out of the normal, bouncer, high chair, stroller type of list. Here goes! 1. First up! Pacimals. Picture courtesy of www.pacimals.com This thing was AMAZING. We got one from my dear friend Chelsea when I was due with Brooklyn. It is a stuffed animal that is attached to a NUK like pacifier (just like the one from the hospital). I had never heard or seen one of these, and we sure got a ... read more »
